Cirque embodies the memory of a friendship; the beautiful and sometimes painful thing it was, as well as hope for a future where that relationship may coalesce again. Named for the bowl-shaped geographic landform where a glacier first appears and last inhabits within a landscape upon its formation or disappearance. The stacked glass upon which this is juxtaposed mimics an uplifted stratigraphic section which also serves as a metaphor for the memory of the subject. Each sheet of glass represents a unique recollection that contributes to a greater whole of a landscape in the mind.
Moving in a Brownian pattern (where each subsequent position is a step in a random direction from the previous) with respect to both speed and direction, a light mirrors an unpredictable non-linear and often rhythmic repetition in recollection. This often frantic and chaotic embodiment of consciousness mirrors the way obsessive thoughts and ideas can feel, both predictably repetitive in content and jarringly incohesive in order.
